Hi,
I just found your blog and I love CGS! I saw the really cute wreath you designed for New Year's in 2011 and was wondering if it might be possible to get a copy of the chart, as it is no longer available on the Wichelt website. I like your tote tutorial and plan to make one. Thanks, Barbie

Crocus Flowers Hand Embroidery Pattern

I decided to jump to early spring for this design and embroider a row of crocus flowers on a kitchen towel. I liked the yellow and green stripes on the towel and went with a yellow theme.  It's titled  Hello Spring .  Did you know some people like to give crocus flowers on Valentine's Day rather than roses? There is a legend of St. Valentine, a physician, who was imprisoned and sentenced to death in Rome.  One of his patients was the jailer's blind daughter.  On the day of his execution he gave the jailer a note with a saffron crocus flower in it to give to his daughter. Illustration Friday - Juggle

I wanted to draw something to correlate with the season and I thought about a lady trying to juggle all of her equipment back so she doesn't have to make another trip, ever feel that way? I felt like using red too, such a strong color and not in my usual palette, so apples came to mind. Have a good weekend. Nice and cool here in Nevada.

Rise and Shine Hand Embroidery Pillow

This week I finished my "Rise and Shine" embroidery pattern that has a very bright theme, some orange butterflies and a few wildflowers.  I'm making a set with "Sweet Dreams" to go with it.    After finishing the pillow i wanted to do the crochet border around the edge.  I found a great pattern for it on the You Go Girl blog.  I've seen it on so many pillowcases lately and it turns out really cute!  First I did a blanket stitch around the edge.   I hemmed the edge of the pillow fabric first and used a large needle with "Comfy" fingering yarn from Knit Picks  in Sea Foam.  It is a little heavier than crochet cotton and I liked the softness of it.    Single crochet in the blanket stitch around.  I made a change here from her directions.  I only put two single crochet stitches in each blanket stitch because it was starting to ruffle a bit and I didn't want that.
