Mirabilia Letter C, Ashley's Roses and Fairy Book

Image
The weather is a lot cooler, we've had some rain and I feel like sitting on the couch with my cross stitch project and a good podcast or movie, maybe both. I am almost finished with my letter C from Mirabilia. I am happy with how it is turning out since I decided to use Weeks Dye Works flosses rather than the Crescent Colors show in the pattern. I thought the colors matched pretty well. This is my first fairy project and I am excited to put her in my bedroom. I have a few other Mirabilia patterns to choose from, but I think I'd like to begin the Ashley's Roses. I love this one. I think it is because she has a "country girl" feel about her and I've always lived in the country. I also really like pink. I was browsing on Amazon the other day for a couple books and happened upon Gail Levine and David Christiana's new fairy book. I love the illustrations and the stories are very cute. I have all three now and am anxious to read this one. Ho...

Bookmark Cross Stitch, Nine patch, and Letter C

I have been making small bookmark patterns lately. I hope to have a nice collection by the end of the year. Working with greens and purples now, but will probably be back to my favorite pink before long. Another green and purple inspired design I finally finished. Now I am trying to decide which fabric to finish it with and what to finish it as. I like being able to make small wall quilts and change them with the seasons or holidays. Easy to store and give a cozy feel to a room. I am very excited that I'm so close to being finished with my Mirabilia letter C project. The petite stitches have been a challenge for me. I like just simple cross stitches, no fancy stitches for me. She will be my first fairy in the house, very excited to have her!

Letters from Nora Progress and Green Nine Patch Block

Image
I am almost finished with a nine patch quilt block, although a cross stitched one... I think quilt blocks look great in cross stitch especially with variegated fibers. I've seen some neat designs featuring quilt blocks. There is a designer on Etsy who has quilt block type patterns with a black cat and I love those. I used some of my favorite colors from The Gentle Art in this one, I liked the green and purple combination. I am excited about my progress with my letter C from Nora. I have one arm left on the little fairy (lots of little petite stitches so I have to be in the mood with good lighting to work on her) but otherwise the design stitches up fairly quickly. This is the first fairy I've ever done and I'm already thinking of more I'd like to do.
