July Cross Stitch and Purple Flower Bouquet Card

Image
It's the season for cutting flowers from the garden and making bouquets. Kind of nice not to have to buy bouquets that other people make, I like to make my own. This is a watercolor of a larkspur bouquet I painted. I also like to collect vases, pitchers and such to put flowers in. Today I cut some deep red dianthus and put it into a canning jar which I thought suited the humble little bouquet. It's almost July so I thought I would put a little design for July on. I like the little red watering cans around the border. This is one in a set of twelve designs that are fun to stitch. I used Gentle Art Sampler flosses on all of them, they have great colors in their floss collection.

Spring Flowers Cross Stitch Patterns and Painting

Bright flowers for spring stitching. This pattern uses Weeks Dye Works flosses, one color for each flower so very easy stitching - I like simple stitching. It is stitched on hand dyed linen from Wichelt Imports. Finished as a pillow. I called this design "Flower Portraits". It uses all DMC floss on aida fabric. I put a little sunshine charm on the sun at the top. I like to paint flowers and found this really pretty blue vase to paint in watercolor. I'm getting all of my flowers out to decorate for spring.

Floral Splendor, Tea Cozy and Tulip Embroidery

I've not had much luck in growing larkspur flowers and I have tried to grow them from seed many seasons and no luck, maybe my cat has something to do with it. I love them though and they are great for dried flower bouquets, keep their color nicely. I decided to put them in a cross stitch design with some roses and chamomile flowers. Chamomile is one of the easiest things for me to grow and I hear they are like weeds in other areas, but I like them. Playing with my fun and colorful patches again on tea cozies. I like the way they add little bits of color and pattern here and there. Does anyone have any tulips up yet? I see lots of daffodils, but no tulips. Our leaf buds are getting very full. We should have lots of blossoms on our trees very soon. Have a fun weekend.
