Small Rose Table Quilt and Sewing for Valentine's Day

I finally finished my little table top quilt I made from the Moda Aviary Charm pack. Very small squares and a few triangles. It had piping on the outside before the border was added and I liked that feature of the quilt. I put it on top of a box my son made in his woodshop class at school. Love handmade things!

Valentine Scottie is finished too. This is my second little scottie dog I've put into a needlework design and I really like Scottie Dogs now, but I won't let my cat know. I've always had cats, I like their independence.
Using some more of my fabric scraps I made a wall hanging for Valentine's Day. I've been wanting more decorations for my home for that holiday. I liked the Debbie Mumm frog fabric, full of character.



Sweet treats are good for Valentine's day too and this is a bowl full of truffles. Dark chocolate truffles are the best, especially with a cup of black coffee.



And a trio of swirly hearts in Chablis shades of pink from Weeks Dye Works. These were fun to do, but more challenging than I thought they would be. I was watching a movie while stitching and got off on one of the hearts and had to restitch. Going around the edges I miscounted and ended up in a totally wrong place... Everything is SO beautiful! The scotty dog is to die for. I have been reluctant to do embroidery becuase of not knowing how to start or finish the threads on the back. Isn't that silly? You do beautiful things!

I am very excited that I finished my "Touching the Autumn Sky" Mirabilia cross stitch pattern over the weekend. Whew, took a long time. I can't even remember when I started it. I'm looking for just the right frame now. I have completed two of Mirabilia's patterns in my cross stitching career, the other one is "Under the Friendship Tree". I really like her patterns of children. I have started the letter "C" of her letters series, however I am using Weeks Dye Works flosses instead of Crescent Colors. Rise and Shine Hand Embroidery Pillow

This week I finished my "Rise and Shine" embroidery pattern that has a very bright theme, some orange butterflies and a few wildflowers.  I'm making a set with "Sweet Dreams" to go with it.    After finishing the pillow i wanted to do the crochet border around the edge.  I found a great pattern for it on the You Go Girl blog.  I've seen it on so many pillowcases lately and it turns out really cute!  First I did a blanket stitch around the edge.   I hemmed the edge of the pillow fabric first and used a large needle with "Comfy" fingering yarn from Knit Picks  in Sea Foam.  It is a little heavier than crochet cotton and I liked the softness of it.    Single crochet in the blanket stitch around.  I made a change here from her directions.  I only put two single crochet stitches in each blanket stitch because it was starting to ruffle a bit and I didn't want that. Illustration Friday - Juggle

I wanted to draw something to correlate with the season and I thought about a lady trying to juggle all of her equipment back so she doesn't have to make another trip, ever feel that way? I felt like using red too, such a strong color and not in my usual palette, so apples came to mind. Have a good weekend. Nice and cool here in Nevada.
