My new little design has a bouquet of white flowers with porcelain pink french knot flower sprays. I like adding different stitches with the cross stitch design. It adds interest and texture. It is called, "White Flower Bouquet" and will be in my Etsy store soon.
I bought an Autumn bouquet that has all the lovely colors of the changing season. My garden is tired and the asters haven't bloomed yet so in the interim I will have these.
Our local art group got together and made grapevine wreaths to decorate for the Christmas season. I think I will decorate mine with all natural things. I will use some dried roses, add a few pinecones, some empty milkweed pods and any other interesting things I find in my travels.
I wanted to draw something to correlate with the season and I thought about a lady trying to juggle all of her equipment back so she doesn't have to make another trip, ever feel that way? I felt like using red too, such a strong color and not in my usual palette, so apples came to mind. Have a good weekend. Nice and cool here in Nevada.
I am very excited that I finished my "Touching the Autumn Sky" Mirabilia cross stitch pattern over the weekend. Whew, took a long time. I can't even remember when I started it. I'm looking for just the right frame now. I have completed two of Mirabilia's patterns in my cross stitching career, the other one is "Under the Friendship Tree". I really like her patterns of children. I have started the letter "C" of her letters series, however I am using Weeks Dye Works flosses instead of Crescent Colors. Looking forward to see how that turns out.
This week I finished my "Rise and Shine" embroidery pattern that has a very bright theme, some orange butterflies and a few wildflowers. I'm making a set with "Sweet Dreams" to go with it. After finishing the pillow i wanted to do the crochet border around the edge. I found a great pattern for it on the You Go Girl blog. I've seen it on so many pillowcases lately and it turns out really cute! First I did a blanket stitch around the edge. I hemmed the edge of the pillow fabric first and used a large needle with "Comfy" fingering yarn from Knit Picks in Sea Foam. It is a little heavier than crochet cotton and I liked the softness of it. Single crochet in the blanket stitch around. I made a change here from her directions. I only put two single crochet stitches in each blanket stitch because it was starting to ruffle a bit and I didn't want that. Five double crochets in a sin...
