Christmas Pillows and Watercolor Fabrics

 
Our local art/craft show is this weekend so I've been working on some pillows and other things to take to the show.  They've been fun to make using my  drawer of scrap fabrics.  I think that may be my favorite part, sitting down with the design and my drawer and finding coordinating fabrics.   

 
I received my Spoonflower fabric samples back and think they printed nicely.  This is kind of a "Farmer's Market" collection that wasn't planned.  :)      

 
Watercolor dots, lots of dots!  These fabrics are fun for kids items.  Hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday.  Here comes Christmas, ready or not! :)

I am very excited that I finished my "Touching the Autumn Sky" Mirabilia cross stitch pattern over the weekend. Whew, took a long time. I can't even remember when I started it. I'm looking for just the right frame now. I have completed two of Mirabilia's patterns in my cross stitching career, the other one is "Under the Friendship Tree". I really like her patterns of children. I have started the letter "C" of her letters series, however I am using Weeks Dye Works flosses instead of Crescent Colors. Looking forward to see how that turns out.

Rise and Shine Hand Embroidery Pillow

This week I finished my "Rise and Shine" embroidery pattern that has a very bright theme, some orange butterflies and a few wildflowers.  I'm making a set with "Sweet Dreams" to go with it.    After finishing the pillow i wanted to do the crochet border around the edge.  I found a great pattern for it on the You Go Girl blog.  I've seen it on so many pillowcases lately and it turns out really cute!  First I did a blanket stitch around the edge.   I hemmed the edge of the pillow fabric first and used a large needle with "Comfy" fingering yarn from Knit Picks  in Sea Foam.  It is a little heavier than crochet cotton and I liked the softness of it.    Single crochet in the blanket stitch around.  I made a change here from her directions.  I only put two single crochet stitches in each blanket stitch because it was starting to ruffle a bit and I didn't want that. Illustration Friday - Juggle

I wanted to draw something to correlate with the season and I thought about a lady trying to juggle all of her equipment back so she doesn't have to make another trip, ever feel that way? I felt like using red too, such a strong color and not in my usual palette, so apples came to mind. Have a good weekend. Nice and cool here in Nevada.
