Felt Brooch Embroidery and Sock Knitting

 
I've been enjoying embroidering on felt lately and decided to make some little brooch pins for autumn and Christmas.  I made a couple in pink in honor of October breast cancer awareness month.

 
I received some new felt in the mail today and the seller did such a nice job packing it I wanted to take a photo before I opened it.   

 
I got some cool colors for winter designs.

 
And some warmer shades for autumn and Halloween.   

 
The weather was so nice yesterday so I took my sock knitting project outside and worked on it for a while.  Sat with my cat (sounds like Dr. Seuss), knitted and enjoyed fresh air.  I'm almost finished with the second sock!  I've been working on this project for a while now and  I'm looking forward to wearing them.  I guess the colder weather has inspired me.  Hope you have a great week.

Touching the Autumn Sky Complete!

I am very excited that I finished my "Touching the Autumn Sky" Mirabilia cross stitch pattern over the weekend. Whew, took a long time. I can't even remember when I started it. I'm looking for just the right frame now. I have completed two of Mirabilia's patterns in my cross stitching career, the other one is "Under the Friendship Tree". I really like her patterns of children. I have started the letter "C" of her letters series, however I am using Weeks Dye Works flosses instead of Crescent Colors. Looking forward to see how that turns out.

Rise and Shine Hand Embroidery Pillow

This week I finished my "Rise and Shine" embroidery pattern that has a very bright theme, some orange butterflies and a few wildflowers.  I'm making a set with "Sweet Dreams" to go with it.    After finishing the pillow i wanted to do the crochet border around the edge.  I found a great pattern for it on the You Go Girl blog.  I've seen it on so many pillowcases lately and it turns out really cute!  First I did a blanket stitch around the edge.   I hemmed the edge of the pillow fabric first and used a large needle with "Comfy" fingering yarn from Knit Picks  in Sea Foam.  It is a little heavier than crochet cotton and I liked the softness of it.    Single crochet in the blanket stitch around.  I made a change here from her directions.  I only put two single crochet stitches in each blanket stitch because it was starting to ruffle a bit and I didn't want that. Illustration Friday - Juggle

I wanted to draw something to correlate with the season and I thought about a lady trying to juggle all of her equipment back so she doesn't have to make another trip, ever feel that way? I felt like using red too, such a strong color and not in my usual palette, so apples came to mind. Have a good weekend. Nice and cool here in Nevada.
