Scottie Dog Mug Rugs and February Flour Sack Towel

 
Some scottie dogs for Valentine's Day!  A new mug rug pattern set with Scotties embroidered in pink and turquoise.  These would look great in redwork too if you're not all that into pink.  


 
I've started a new series of patterns featuring the birth month flowers.  I wanted to use violets this time for February, instead of irises.

 
And January carnations.  I also have a few kits available for these patterns.  The kits include the flour sack towel, flosses and the fabric seen in the photo.  Hope you have a good weekend.  It's madly blowing dust around here with no rain, unfortunately.  Maybe next week.

Touching the Autumn Sky Complete!

I am very excited that I finished my "Touching the Autumn Sky" Mirabilia cross stitch pattern over the weekend. Whew, took a long time. I can't even remember when I started it. I'm looking for just the right frame now. I have completed two of Mirabilia's patterns in my cross stitching career, the other one is "Under the Friendship Tree". I really like her patterns of children. I have started the letter "C" of her letters series, however I am using Weeks Dye Works flosses instead of Crescent Colors. Looking forward to see how that turns out.

Rise and Shine Hand Embroidery Pillow

This week I finished my "Rise and Shine" embroidery pattern that has a very bright theme, some orange butterflies and a few wildflowers.  I'm making a set with "Sweet Dreams" to go with it.    After finishing the pillow i wanted to do the crochet border around the edge.  I found a great pattern for it on the You Go Girl blog.  I've seen it on so many pillowcases lately and it turns out really cute!  First I did a blanket stitch around the edge.   I hemmed the edge of the pillow fabric first and used a large needle with "Comfy" fingering yarn from Knit Picks  in Sea Foam.  It is a little heavier than crochet cotton and I liked the softness of it.    Single crochet in the blanket stitch around.  I made a change here from her directions.  I only put two single crochet stitches in each blanket stitch because it was starting to ruffle a bit and I didn't want that.
