Cornflower Graphic and Mary Engelbreit

I finished my new design and think I will call it "Cor nflower Graphic" because of all the lines and checks reminds me of paper, or computer stuff, or graphs of some sort. I used Weeks Dye Works and picked some unique colors to blend together in the graphic part. I am going to use some Mary Engelbreit fabrics to finish it. like these little designs because I can put them into any little sewing creation I want to and I love to use quilting fabrics to finish my designs, there are so many to choose from and visiting a quilt shop is so fun just like visiting the bookstore, could stay in there all day and just absorb...

Yoga bag and Love Matters Pillow

I decided to finish my "Love Matters" embroidery yesterday and use the collection of fat quarters I found to coordinate with the floss colors. I loved the chocolate and caramel browns with the berry colors. I used a piece of lace I had in my box of sewing pretties and some vintage buttons my son and husband find for me while they are out exploring the desert. I've quite a collection of them now and love to use them in my sewing creations. I have started yoga again and love it so I decided I needed a pretty bag to put my mat in. Cindy Taylor Oates has a great pattern - she has great bag patterns- and I used some really bright and fun fabrics to make it. I see she has a robe pattern out now and think I may have to get that one next...

Love Matters, Beautiful Browns, Artful Blogging

Despite dust stirring and tumbleweed tossing winds we decided to make a quick afternoon trip to Reno. We had Barnes and Noble giftcards burning holes in wallets, well mine anyway. .. going through the canyon on the freeway was a little scary with the wind pushing against the car and huge semi trucks that were very close to the middle line, but we made it just fine and the skies were very clear in Reno - no smog hovering over the city. I went to a quilt shop to find some fat quarters for my latest embroidery project. I love the beautiful brown fabrics with warm berry colors, ecru and golden caramel colors. I had great fun picking out a few to make a very ruffly pillow with my "Love Matters" embroidery design. I stitched it using brown and berry color flosses from Weeks Dye Works. The hand dyed embroidered flosses have really enriched the craft of needlework. I fell in love with it all over again after I started designing with those. The last stop was Barnes and Noble... there
