Sweet Dreams Pillow and Crayon Embroidery

This is a companion embroidery design to my Rise and Shine pattern - I put the Rise and Shine on the other side of the pillow.  I just turn it around in the morning, I'm liking it! 

I used Weeks Dye Works flosses on this design too and liked working with all the lavender and blues, calming colors.   

I've started a Halloween design with three black cats and corners of cobwebs.  Hopefully I will have this one done next week, autumn is fast approaching and soon big boxes of pumpkins will be for sale at the store rather than watermelons.  

I found myself really enjoying coloring and started this little design with white daisies with yellow centers.  The yellow really lightens after ironing so I will color a little darker next time I try this.

The colouring looks really good. I never thought to try filling in that way but I have seen it mentioned a lot this week on various blogs.

Love those black cats they are gorgeous :)

I am very excited that I finished my "Touching the Autumn Sky" Mirabilia cross stitch pattern over the weekend. Whew, took a long time. I can't even remember when I started it. I'm looking for just the right frame now. I have completed two of Mirabilia's patterns in my cross stitching career, the other one is "Under the Friendship Tree". I really like her patterns of children. I have started the letter "C" of her letters series, however I am using Weeks Dye Works flosses instead of Crescent Colors. Rise and Shine Hand Embroidery Pillow

This week I finished my "Rise and Shine" embroidery pattern that has a very bright theme, some orange butterflies and a few wildflowers.  I'm making a set with "Sweet Dreams" to go with it.    After finishing the pillow i wanted to do the crochet border around the edge.  I found a great pattern for it on the You Go Girl blog.  I've seen it on so many pillowcases lately and it turns out really cute!  First I did a blanket stitch around the edge.   I hemmed the edge of the pillow fabric first and used a large needle with "Comfy" fingering yarn from Knit Picks  in Sea Foam.  It is a little heavier than crochet cotton and I liked the softness of it.    Single crochet in the blanket stitch around.  I made a change here from her directions.  I only put two single crochet stitches in each blanket stitch because it was starting to ruffle a bit and I didn't want that. Illustration Friday - Juggle

I wanted to draw something to correlate with the season and I thought about a lady trying to juggle all of her equipment back so she doesn't have to make another trip, ever feel that way? I felt like using red too, such a strong color and not in my usual palette, so apples came to mind. Have a good weekend. Nice and cool here in Nevada.
