Country Garden Stitchery

I grew up on a farm for a lot of my childhood and enjoy animals, especially sheep and chickens. Black sheep are my favorite. Their faces so dark their eyes are hidden. Love their fluffy wool and passive way. And because spring is my favorite season. Driving past a green pasture and one day it is sprinkled with newborn lambs with pure white wool and I always see if there is a little black one in the flock. That was my inspiration for this pattern for whimsical sheep with pillow fluffy wool and the little black one almost hidden in the flowers.

I have been very drawn to orange lately and saw these bright orange pansies at the nursery over the weekend and got them for my little planter. I planted them with tiny royal purple petunia type flowers that are supposed to spread and bloom beautifully, I will let you know how they do... Driving downtown yesterday we happened upon a flea market by chance (I love when that happens :) and I found this hand embroidered kitchen dishcloth. Again, I really liked the orange and I always like pink. It is now hanging on my stove handle and I am inspired to embroider some towels myself, but I think I would like to try some linen towels. I love linen. I have a little country embroidery pattern set I am working on. I just finished the sheep last night while watching the last episode of Survivor and being thankful Russel did not win. Anyway, one more in this set which is a little cottage. I am planning on putting red fabrics with these designs, I've used a lot of little red flower...

Very excited with this new quilted needlecase. I am starting to become inspired by brighter colors (i am definitely a pastel girl by nature). These colors just make me happy though and I want to try more. There are so many neat color combinations out there and fat quarters galore to choose from. I got my Beatrix Potter fabric yesterday and have been inspired by sheep. I love sheep and used to have a few of my own, funny experience. They are funny characters, and so was I since I didn't have too much experience with them. Anyway I have always loved sheep, especially the lambs. I think I will do an embroidery set for kids featuring lambs and sheep and a few flowers here and there - my other favorite. My local flower nursery is starting to get all kinds of neat things in and I have to discipline myself to stay away and not go everyday since we have to buy things to eat, fuel that is priced like gold, and other necessities too...
