Vegetable Fabrics and Garden Flowers

Image
I received some new fabric samples from Spoonflower this week. This one is called Fresh Veggies and has pen and ink with watercolor vegetables in a large pattern repeat.    A spring green check with chamomile flowers drawn in sepia ink with watercolor.      And a sunflower print in ink with watercolor.    Here are a few of the fabrics that compliment each other.  Fun for kitchens and summer sewing!    And a photo of my garden.  I'm so happy my bee balm is blooming so nicely.  It takes a while to bloom after it's planted I guess and this year it has finally come around for me.  I love the colors of pink.  They vary from fuchsia to the palest pink.  The bees have been visiting too.  Hope you have a good day.

Birth Month Flower Needlebooks

Image
I've started September Morning Glory and I wanted to get all the needlebooks out that I've completed in this series to see which finishing techniques I liked best.       I really like the needlebooks finished as May and June were with a border of fabric on the left side.  I tried a few larger needlebooks with several fabrics inside and larger pockets.  The fabrics are for practicing stitches or sewing on buttons/button collection or scraps of favorite fabrics.  I had a book like that when I was learning to sew.  I practiced hooks and eyes, buttons and snaps in it.   Think I was about 10 :)       Having the fabric around the design really makes the colors stand out, like on August Poppies.    As I was gathering them up to put them away I thought the colors looked nice so wanted a couple different photos for variety.  I love colorful fabrics.      June was one of my favorite needlebooks.  I really like pink.  Hope you have a good week.

Seashell Embroidery Needlebook and Vintage Towels

Image
Inspired by seashells since it's summer and dreaming of the beach!   I'd love to find a sand dollar.  A nice whole one just delivered by the tide.    A couple more kitchen towels for my collection.  I like to collect other people's embroidery when I see it at antique shops and shows.  I really appreciate the time they spent to make it! And I'm really happy to have it.
