Flower Girl Silhouette Embroidery and Camping Lake Tahoe

Image
I finished a bit more of my flower girl silhouette embroidery pattern.  I'm planning on finishing her this week.  I just have a few of the daisies to do.  I think I want to finish her as a nice large pillow.  She's feminine and would look great as a decoration in my bedroom.      I've chosen these fabrics to finish the pillow with.  I'll probably use a lot more of the light blue and turquoise fabrics in the back of the photo but I think the yellow really adds a nice punch to the color scheme.  Brings out the yellow daffodil.      I ordered some fabrics from FatQuarters.com.  Some from Riley Blake - they have such cute, bright and cheerful fabrics.  Since it is summer it is time to plan some Christmas designs :) and I chose the Ho Ho Ho fabrics from Nancy Halvorsen.  Thought they were cute with nice bright colors too.        We took a break and went camping at Lake Tahoe and it was really fun.  My daughter took this photo of a lupine.  They we

Farmer's Market Fabric and Flower Girl Silhouette Embroidery

A fabric design I worked on this week to enter into the weekly contest on Spoonflower.  Farmer's Markets are a favorite of mine during the summer.  I find I just grow mostly flowers and shop the farmer's market since most of it is organic and it's just fun for me to go.     I was honored to have my Bees and Leaves fabric featured in a sewing magazine from the UK called SEW  and be included with their other fabric designers.     A really neat moodboard they created with lots of different botanical themed fabrics and really pretty shades of green.   My latest embroidery project is called "Flower Girl Silhouette" and I've been working on her bit by bit.  I've had some trouble with carpal tunnel in my wrists lately so it is slow going for me right now, but I'll get her done!

Ipad Case, Hand Painted Trim and Fat Quarters

I found an iPad case sewing pattern on Etsy last week and sewed it up on Sunday.  I found the fabrics when I went to Reno browsing quilt shops.  I love the botanical theme and the flap is a stamp fabric that looks like it was done in watercolor.  Very cute fabrics.  I still have a lot of the stamps fabric left so I'll choose something special to make out of that, I love it.       The iPad and stylus fit nicely in the case and closes securely with Velcro.  I used heavy interfacing to give it some weight and durability.  It was a quick project that sewed up quickly.        I've been shopping on Etsy lately... and found some hand painted trim.  I've been wanting to buy some of this trim for a while but couldn't decide which one I wanted.  The artist has a lot of different styles and they are all so cute.  I bought the other trims at the quilt shop.  I think I'll put the yellow ric rac on a hand embroidered towel.   They had hand embroidered towels
